Marex Spectron establishes research institute

April 15, 2016

Marex Spectron, the global commodities broker, has established the Marex Spectron Institute, a new business that capitalises on the strength of the brokerage’s research capabilities to provide best–in–class training courses for the commodity trading community.

The Marex Spectron Institute aims to bridge the gap between academic study and professional analysis of global commodity markets by offering courses open to all market participants that focus on real world insights on major economic, geopolitical, climatic and trade-related issues affecting international commodity markets. The institute is led by Georgi Slavov, Marex Spectron’s Global Head of Energy, Ferrous Metals and Shipping Research, and courses feature a network of leading academics and industry executives.

Specialising in high quality training, the Institute will launch a new series of courses in May 2016 that includes ferrous metals, industrial transport (dry bulk shipping and crude oil tanker shipping), power (gas, coal and electricity) and applied meteorology (energy and agricultural markets).

The courses aim to present students with a comprehensive overview of market structures, challenges and trends, as well as offering insight into trading and research. The focus on the day-to-day dynamics observed within these markets provides an excellent platform for any individual – regardless of their experience – who wishes to deepen their knowledge of a particular sector.

All Institute courses are designed by established professionals in the field of commodity research, broking, trading and risk management.

Georgi Slavov, Global Head of Energy, Ferrous Metals and Shipping Research, said: “The nature of Marex Spectron’s core business allows for a unique expression of unbiased research, analysis and opinions on market fundamentals, developments and trends. This factor, along with our inimitable to ties the academic world, makes the Marex Spectron Institute a unique proposition.”

“Our network of industry experts is unrivalled and we are excited about offering participants from all areas of the commodity trading community access to such expertise.”
