Marex Spectron, the global commodities broker, has today announced the appointment of Carla Stent as Non-Executive Chair of the Group Board.

Carla, who has sat on the board for the past four years and was until recently Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee, takes over from Simon Heale, who stood down in December after three years in the role.

Carla has extensive executive and non-executive international experience across financial services, principally banking and private equity, as well as retail and travel. Her current Board roles include the Post Office Limited, JP Morgan Elect plc, Savernake Capital Group and Power to Change. She has also served on the boards of Change Alliance (India) Private Limited, Christian Aid, The Young Women’s Trust, and various Virgin Group entity boards, amongst others.

From 2010 to 2013, Carla was Chief Operating Officer and Partner at Virgin Group. She was previously Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the Global Retail and Commercial Bank arm of Barclays Bank. From 2000 to 2004, at Thomas Cook AG Group, she held a variety of roles, including Operations Director, as well as Director of Group Strategy & Corporate Finance.

Carla Stent commented: “I am delighted to have been appointed Chair of Marex Spectron. This is an exciting time for the company, with a number of recent acquisitions and new developments, and I look forward to closely working with Ian Lowitt and the Board to continue on this upwards trajectory.”

Jeremy Isaacs of JRJ Group added: “To have someone of Carla’s calibre as Chair of Marex Spectron is a wonderful outcome for the firm. After four years on the Board she has a tremendous understanding of Marex Spectron and brings great experience to this role.”
