Marex Spectron Hits Top of Financial Futures & Options Exchange Rankings

September 4, 2013

Marex Spectron, the leading independent broker of commodities and financial products, was the second most active dealer of Euribor options on NYSE LIFFE in July and the most active in German two-year government bonds (“Schatz”) on Eurex, according to data from the exchanges.

Overall, on LIFFE Marex Spectron maintained its position as the fourth most active dealer of financial futures in July and grew its financial options business substantially in July, the latest month for which data is available.

John Wall, CEO of Marex Spectron, said: “Two years ago, Marex Spectron took the decision to invest in our financial futures and options desks, adding strategic analysis to our leading execution capability and expanding in New York. Our clients told us they wanted us to apply our ability to get business done quickly, securely and intelligently in our core commodity markets to other sectors.

“The latest exchange rankings demonstrate the strength of our financial futures and options desk, the great reputation they have built and our ability to offer a single, global, unified service to clients with diverse needs across markets and products.”

Marex Spectron has doubled its market share of Euribor options traded on LIFFE in 2013, from 8.14% in January to 16.05% in July. The firm’s total market share of all financial futures on LIFFE rose from 5.63% to 6.18% over the same period and from 6.25% to 6.76% in financial options.
