The Marex Solutions department is a division of Marex, specialises in the manufacture and distribution of customised derivative products. We have two specialist teams: Hedging Solutions and Financial Products. Marex Hedging Solutions helps corporations reduce their risk due to the volatility of commodity and currency prices. Marex Financial Products offers a customisable investment solutions platform, allowing investors to easily price and create fully tailor-made products.

This role covers the trading function within Marex Solutions.

Role Summary

An ambitious, proactive and technically-minded individual with experience in rapid application development, responsible for managing risk arising from Marex Solutions’ clients’ activity set within group risk appetite and defined risk limits, as well collaborating with our technology function to push the boundaries of what our best-in-class trading platform can do. The successful candidate will be hungry to learn every aspect of a very complex cross-asset trading desk, and find ways to use technology to serve our clients’ needs and deliver excellent PnL and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Marex Solutions’ Funds, AMC and QIS trading capabilities to support best-in-class trade structuring and execution capabilities for clients, growing our market share and PnL
  • Work closely with Technology and Quants to greatly expand the capabilities of our sophisticated Strategies pricing, order management and risk management systems, enhancing our product offering to grow our market share in Funds, QIS and AMC.
  • Collaborate with data, research and quants colleagues to identify opportunities for hedging strategies and originate new strategies marketable to our clients
  • Manage Marex market risk for Marex Solutions within group risk appetite and defined risk limits whilst generating positive returns
  • Build relationships with sales/broking functions within Solutions and across the broader firm to originate structured transactions, with a cross-product-selling mindset
  • Collaborate with central operations functions which support the trading role including but not limited to Operations, Finance and Technology
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the FCA, AMF
  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
  • Be a role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
  • At all times comply with the FCA’s Code of Conduct
  • Carry out regulated activities under the Marex Financial trading books
  • Ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility
  • Report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/ or your supervisor as required without delay
  • Escalate risk events immediately

Skills and Experience

  • Strong mathematical/technology/engineering background.
  • Proven rapid-turnaround app development experience: e.g. developing Python web apps, integrating with internal and external APIs, working with SQL databases and data modelling, debugging, logging, testing and shipping quickly in messy real-world environments
  • Existing knowledge of options theory and financial models, or strong motivation to become proficient rapidly
  • Analytical skills, identifying opportunities and risks in a quick and decisive manner
  • Good knowledge of the financial service markets and relevant regulatory requirements
