Purpose of Role:
The Operations Technologist, based in New York, will support Marex’s Broker Dealer, Swap Dealer, derivatives, and energy businesses by partnering with stakeholders across a broad section of the business. The role collaborates to define and implement a vision for world-class operational platforms, applying modern technology to improve trade processing, controls, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting across OTC and listed products.
Acting as a key point of contact from inception through business acceptance, the Operations Technologist will capture and shape requirements for change initiatives and translate them into clear deliverables for the wider technology organization. Solutions may be delivered through bespoke in-house development or the selection and implementation of vendor platforms, with the Operations Technologist providing end-to-end oversight to ensure outcomes meet business needs and operate within a stable, well-governed control environment.

The Technology Department delivers differentiation, scalability, and security for the business. Reporting to the CEO, Technology provides digital tools, software services, and infrastructure globally to all business groups. Software development and support teams work in agile ‘streams’ aligned to specific business areas. Other teams work enterprise-wide to provide critical services including the global service desk, network and system infrastructure, IT operations, network and system infrastructure, IT operations, security, enterprise architecture, and design.
The Business Technology function ensures delivery of Technology services to each of Marex’s business areas by optimizing their technology stack, prioritizing their strategic technology roadmap, and driving their software delivery lifecycle. Each Business Technology team is aligned to one of Marex’s business divisions and works with a corresponding Development team and Application Support team. A global team of implementation resources coordinate and support the technology business streams with delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall architecture and design of the technology developed by the business.
- Provide strategic technological direction for the business.
- Innovate new solutions, ensuring the business is always one step ahead of the competition.
- Contribute to the technical direction of the department, research new concepts, and technologies, and evaluate third party products and tools that are (or bay be) used by the team.
- Define the development roadmap and strategy and ensure the team is adequately resourced to achieve it.
Oversee projects to ensure they are run efficiently and delivered on time and on budget. - Prioritize and drive the business requirements and give regular status updates.
- Ensure delivered systems are of production quality and that software is adequately documented for handover to the business.
- Familiar with the regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements that apply to the business ensuring that technology employed adheres to these.
- Ensure delivered systems are secure, reliable, and scaled to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business.
- Help defined best software development practices and processes and ensure they are adhered to.
- Create epics that capture business deliverables with an agreed set of Acceptance Criteria (the contract), and report on the priority/progress/effort/cost of these epis/projects.

Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Good knowledge across various financial asset class products.
- Deep understanding of the post-trade lifecycle, including confirmation/affirmation, allocations, settlement, clearing, collateral and margin, lifecycle events, reconciliations, and exceptions management.
- Experience with post-trade platforms and integrations (e.g., trade capture feeds, confirmations, clearing brokers/CCPs, custodians/settlement systems, collateral tools, and reconciliation/break management).
- Working knowledge of regulatory and reporting obligations impacting post-trade for Broker Dealer and Swap Dealer activities (e.g., transaction reporting, recordkeeping, controls, auditability).
- Experience delivering change across operations technology, including requirements definition, process mapping, testing/UAT, implementation, and production readiness.
- Strong project planning and coordination skills, including managing dependencies across multiple teams and vendors.
- Excellent stakeholder management and business analysis skills, able to translate operational problems into clear technology deliverables.
- Experience designing or supporting secure, reliable, and scalable applications, data flows, and infrastructure, with a focus on resiliency and operational controls.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex post-trade workflows and issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in a regulated environment with an understanding of operational risk, compliance requirements, and control frameworks relevant to post-trade operations.
Salary Range: $175,000 to $210,000 per year and eligible for discretionary bonus.
