Tell us a bit about your background:
I was born and raised in South Africa where I graduated from Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha. I then furthered my studies in 2022 when I completed my postgraduate honours degree in Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University.

What’s your role at Marex?
My official role title is Talent Management Associate, which means I support the Talent Acquisition function in hiring talented individuals to join the Marex team. I also provide additional support for the HR function at Marex. My main contribution has been collaborating with my team in the development of this year’s Marex’s Graduate Programme. I have worked closely with a number of business areas and external suppliers and been given a lot of autonomy to help create a tailored programme.

Describe a typical day in your role:
My role varies from day-to-day. Even at an analyst level, Marex’s culture provides me with a significant amount of responsibility and autonomy. I arrive at work at 08:30am where I begin the day contacting various hiring managers from various departments to assist in their hiring process. Usually there will be multiple roles that I will be working on all in various stages of the hiring process. Therefore, the majority of my day entails anything from screening CVs, speaking to applicants, setting up interviews, conducting interviews, meeting with external agencies, and sending out offers. I also have a number of additional, firm-wide projects that I work on such as Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, Graduate Programme development, Survey development and much more.

What is your favourite thing about your role?
The best part of my role is the amount of autonomy and responsibility that has been given to me as a recent graduate. This has provided the space to strengthen my knowledge, skills and abilities in my field at an exponential rate.
